La photographie est souvent une question de timing : celui du déclencheur, mais aussi celui d’une rencontre et d’une lumière qui s’alignent. En 2013, j’ai eu le privilège d’accueillir dans mon studio de l’époque une mannequin brésilienne de passage à Paris pour une séance qui reste, aujourd’hui encore, gravée dans ma mémoire.

L’Écrin du 8ème Étage

À cette époque, je travaillais dans un appartement situé au huitième étage, un véritable « piège à lumière ». Grâce à sa configuration traversante, la clarté y était constante, pure et enveloppante. Pour cette série, nous avons délaissé les tenues de mode plus sophistiquées que nous avions photographiées plus tôt pour explorer une approche plus minimaliste et intimiste.

Le Miroir comme Confident

Dans l’intimité de la chambre, le miroir est devenu un personnage à part entière. Comme on peut le voir sur ce cliché, il permet de dédoubler la perspective tout en conservant une grande douceur.

• La composition : J’ai choisi de jouer avec le flou d’avant-plan (le cadre du miroir) pour diriger le regard directement vers l’expression de la modèle.
• La lumière : Aucun artifice, aucun flash. Seule la lumière naturelle vient sculpter les formes et souligner la texture de la peau, offrant ce rendu organique et authentique que seule la lumière du jour peut créer.

Dix Ans Après : Un Nouveau Chapitre

Ce shooting n’était pas seulement une réussite esthétique, c’était aussi une expérience humaine enrichissante. La complicité qui s’est créée devant l’objectif est le moteur de mon travail.

C’est avec beaucoup d’enthousiasme que je prépare aujourd’hui de nouvelles retrouvailles photographiques avec cette modèle. Plus de dix ans après notre première rencontre, il sera fascinant de voir comment nos regards respectifs ont évolué. La photographie est aussi le témoin du temps qui passe, et je suis impatient de capturer ce nouveau chapitre de sa vie, et de la mienne, en tant que photographe.

Timeless Reflections: Parisian Light and Brazilian Grace

Photography is often a matter of perfect timing—not just the click of the shutter, but the alignment of a unique encounter and the perfect light. Back in 2013, I had the privilege of shooting with a Brazilian model visiting Paris. It was a session that, even a decade later, remains a personal favorite.

The 8th-Floor Sanctuary

At the time, I lived in an apartment on the 8th floor, a space defined by its « traversante » (cross-through) light. The height and exposure made it a true sanctuary for natural light, offering a clarity that was both pure and enveloping. While we spent part of the day shooting high-fashion looks, we felt compelled to strip away the artifice for a series that was more minimalist and intimate.

The Mirror as a Confidant

In the quiet of the bedroom, we used a mirror not just as a prop, but as a central element of the narrative. As seen in this frame, the mirror allows for a layered perspective while maintaining a sense of softness and depth.

• The Composition: I chose to use the foreground reflection to frame the model, creating a « peek-in » effect that directs the viewer’s eye straight to her expression.
• The Light: No artificial tools, no flashes. Pure natural light sculpts the forms and highlights the skin’s texture, providing that organic, authentic glow that only daylight can achieve.

Ten Years Later: A New Chapter

This shoot was more than just an aesthetic success; it was a deeply rewarding human experience. The connection established in front of the lens is what truly drives my work.

It is with great excitement that I am now preparing to collaborate with this model once again. More than ten years after our first session, it will be fascinating to see how our respective artistic visions have matured. Photography serves as a witness to the passage of time, and I cannot wait to capture this next chapter—both in her journey and in mine as I transition fully into my professional photography career.
